Father's Day

On this day, people celebrate fathers, grandfathers, and other male ancestors.

Father’s Day, which is also celebrated in Hungary, originated as an initiative in the United States in the early 20th century. Among other things, the event honors the memory of Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, who, after being widowed for the second time, was forced to raise his numerous children alone.

At the Skanzen in the Bakony and Balaton Uplands, we welcome families with craft workshops, DIY activities, folk games, and a demonstration by the Szentendre City Volunteer Fire Department.
