Getting to the museum by CAR

From Budapest, it takes approximately 40 minutes - 1 hour (depending on traffic) to the Museum on road no.11. Once in Szentendre, you must look for the sign ’SKANZEN’ on the right side of the road and turn left.

Getting to the museum by PUBLIC TRANSPORT

By the suburban railway line H5 from Budapest to Szentendre

Take the suburban railway line H5 (starts from Batthyány tér). The travel time to Szentendre from Batthyány tér takes 39 mins. It is recommended to use the travel planner of BKK (Centre for Budapest Transport). See the schedule of H5 from Batthyányi tér (Budapest) to Szentendre here.

By bus 

From Budapest Újpest-Városkapu to Szentendre it takes 30-35 minutes. Timetable is available here.

By local bus from the terminal of the suburban train to the Museum

The Skanzen can be reached by local bus from the suburban train terminal. The bus station is next to the terminal. Buy your ticket at the yellow ticket machine or at the ticket booth. (250 HUF one way) The bus usually departs from platform 6.

From the train terminal in Szentendre to the Skanzen: 5.45, 6.25, 7.10, 8.05, 10.25, 13.05, 14.05, 15.05, 16.05, 17.05, 18.05, 20.25, 22.25

From the Skanzen back to Szentendre: 5.57, 6.37, 7.22, 8.17, 10.37, 13.28, 14.28, 15.28, 16.28, 17.28, 18.28, 20.46, 22.46

At weekends

From the train terminal to the Skanzen: 6.50, 8.05, 10.25, 12.25, 14.25, 16.25, 18.25, 20.25, 22.15

From the Skanzen back to Szentendre: 7.02, 8.17, 10.37, 12.37, 14.48, 16.48, 18.48, 20.56, 22.56

By taxi from the train station to the Museum

There are also possibilities to take a taxi from the suburban train station to the Museum (Expected fee is about 8-10 Euros). The taxi stand is right at the terminal.
